Sustainability Report 2024: LONGi cuts global emissions by 37% and reaches 47.5% green electricity use in 2024

LONGi has released its 2024 Sustainability Report, presenting clear evidence of progress in decarbonization, green energy deployment, responsible sourcing, and ESG governance. The report outlines how LONGi, as a globally active solar technology company, is delivering tangible results in environmental performance and supply chain responsibility across its international operations.

2.55 million tons of CO₂ avoided as green electricity share rises to 47.5%

LONGi increased its global green electricity usage ratio to 47.5% in 2024, up from 40.2% the previous year, by expanding renewable energy sourcing and efficiency measures across all major production sites. As a result, the company reduced its Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 37% compared to 2023, and Scope 3 emissions by 26%. These improvements correspond to a total carbon reduction of approximately 2.55 million metric tons in 2024 alone, reflecting the company’s accelerated shift toward low-emission manufacturing and operations.

Water use per unit reduced by 13.8% and 82.7% of waste recycled

Complementing its carbon reduction efforts, LONGi also achieved significant gains in water and waste management. The company reduced water consumption intensity by 13.8% year over year and reached a non-hazardous waste recycling rate of 82.7%. In line with its circular economy goals, LONGi launched pilot projects focused on recycling PV modules and established demonstration lines with external partners to test next-generation recycling solutions.

259 suppliers screened for ESG risks and 48 audited on-site

LONGi deepened its commitment to responsible sourcing by becoming the first PV manufacturer to achieve ISO 20400 certification for sustainable procurement. In 2024, the company conducted ESG due diligence for 123 new suppliers and 136 qualified suppliers, carrying out 48 on-site audits to address high-risk cases. The company also initiated its first Green Partner Empowerment Program, supporting 50 suppliers in conducting carbon audits and developing decarbonization pathways, laying the groundwork for a low-carbon supply chain.

Recognized in top 5% globally with EcoVadis Gold and S&P “Industry Mover” status

LONGi’s enhanced governance systems and ESG transparency were recognized through multiple global benchmarks in 2024. The company received an MSCI ESG rating upgrade to BBB, a Gold Medal from EcoVadis (placing it in the top 5% of all assessed companies), and a 3.8 score in the FTSE Russell ESG framework. It was also named an “Industry Mover” in the S&P Global Sustainability Yearbook (China Edition), highlighting its strong year-on-year ESG performance improvement across environmental and social metrics.

Zero major environmental or ethics violations across global operations

All of LONGi’s production facilities achieved and maintained full certification under ISO 14001 for environmental management, ISO 45001 for occupational health and safety, and ISO 37301 for compliance management. There were no recorded cases of major environmental violations, work-related fatalities, data breaches, or incidents of fraud. Business ethics training reached 100% of employees, board members, and suppliers, while all ethics-related complaints were resolved without escalation or penalty.
