Decades of free solar power

A family in central Europe typically installs 15 EcoLife panels of 500W each, giving a system size of 7.5 kWp. In the first year, this produces around 7,800 kWh of clean electricity – almost twice the annual use of a standard household. Thanks to EcoLife’s long performance warranty, output only decreases by about 0.35% per year, so after 30 years the system has still delivered close to 220,000 kWh in total.

If every kilowatt-hour were self-consumed at today’s average electricity price of €0.32/kWh, this would correspond to a theoretical saving of around €70,000 over the system’s lifetime. In real-world conditions, where a portion of the solar power is used directly in the home and, if no storage is installed, the rest being exported to the grid at a lower tariff, typical lifetime savings for a family household are in the range of €20,000–34,000 – still a substantial reduction in energy costs and a reliable hedge against rising electricity prices.
