nadinebuetow@longi.comLONGi Solar has secured a pivotal agreement to deploy nearly 100MW of Hi-MO 9 modules in LATAM, marking a milestone in bridging energy equity gaps through advanced solar innovation. Orchestrated by LONGi’s European team, this project highlights the company’s commitment to democratizing access to high-efficiency, sustainable energy solutions in markets poised for transformative growth.
Project Overview: Sustainable Infrastructure for Emerging Economies
The initiative, developed with a prominent infrastructure partner, targets a region balancing rapid industrialization with renewable energy adoption. Hi-MO 9’s ultra-high-power density (up to 670W) and temperature resilience make it ideal for challenging climates, while its streamlined design accelerates deployment timelines. The project supports national targets to expand renewable energy access, fostering economic growth and reducing reliance on fossil fuels.
“Energy equity begins with technological accessibility. This project demonstrates how BC technology can empower emerging markets to leapfrog interim solutions and adopt sustainable infrastructure that delivers lasting value for communities and ecosystems alike.” Said by Mr. Francois Cui, President of LONGi Europe.
“This significant project underscores LONGi’s relentless innovation, evidenced by our customers’ complete adoption of BC’s game-changing technology, which is now powerfully shaping a new future for PV modules throughout the industry.”, emphasized Mr.David Sanchez, General Manager IBERA of LONGi Europe.
Hi-MO 9’s back contact cells achieve 8-10% higher energy yield in high-irradiance environments compared to conventional modules, critical for Central America regions with limited grid infrastructure. The project’s 30-year performance warranty and bankability assurances provide developers with confidence in long-term returns, accelerating capital inflows into renewable energy. The initiative integrates community engagement programs to ensure local stakeholders benefit from skills development and job creation. By prioritizing low-impact construction practices, LONGi and its partner are setting a precedent for ethical, inclusive solar development in emerging markets.
