"Safety above all" is how Monika summed up her LONGi EcoLife choice for a newly built family home in Poland

When a family of four moves into a newly built home, every decision carries extra weight. For Monika and her husband, with two young children and lots of expenses already on their shoulders, the choice of a solar system was not taken lightly – it meant committing to a technology they would live with for decades, on the roof above their children's bedrooms.

In Kargoszyn, Poland, they invested in a residential PV system with battery storage and EV charging, installed by Bison Energy. The modules Monika chose were LONGi EcoLife. What drove that decision reveals something important about how families are thinking about solar today.

Lower energy bills initiate the process but long-term independence drives the final decision

Like many Polish households, Monika turned to solar in response to rising and unpredictable electricity costs. "First of all, because of the instability of the electricity market. We simply wanted our bills to be lower," she explains. But the investment was also shaped by a longer-term view, with an electric vehicle in the family's plans, self-generated energy was not just about reducing today's bills. "We are planning to buy an electric car, and we will be able to charge it with our own generated electricity, regardless of petrol prices."

Aesthetics mattered, but technical specifications secured the choice

The EcoLife modules integrate visually into the roof rather than sitting on top of it, and for a newly built home with a dark roof, appearance was a genuine factor. "The panels looked great and matched our dark roof well," Monika says. But asked whether the choice came down to looks, she was direct: "Not only that." What ultimately convinced her was the technical specification - bifacial modules with a Class A safety rating, backed by back contact technology that significantly reduces the risk of hot spots and delivers reliable long-term performance. As the installer noted, the aesthetics of EcoLife are, as LONGi describes them, a side effect of the underlying technology.

Bifacial design and Class A fire safety ratings served as the final deciding factors for the permanent installation

"What convinced us was that they are bifacial and have a Class A safety rating," Monika confirms and admits that they researched this topic very carefully, doing their best to understand the specifications of what they are investing in. The system uses glass-glass modules with Class A fire resistance - a specification that matters when the installation is permanent. "We are settling in this home permanently and we want it to be our safe place. So we don't put just anything in the house or on the roof," she explains. The back contact technology also plays a role in long-term performance: by moving all electrical connections to the rear of the module, the front surface is fully available to absorb sunlight, eliminating the overheating that leads to hot spots and can degrade output over time.

Roof solar installations are perceived as permanent and therefore need the highest safety standards

The installation in Kargoszyn goes beyond the rooftop. The system includes an energy storage unit, an EV charging point, and backup power supply, a setup that reflects how residential solar is increasingly chosen as a complete energy solution. For a family with two small children, backup power was another layer of the same logic that guided the module choice. "Safety above all - when you live at home with your family, with young children, that in my opinion is what matters most. Most important is simply to feel safe," Monika concludes.
