nadinebuetow@longi.comLONGi has been recognized as a Tier 1 manufacturer for both photovoltaic modules and energy storage systems in the Q1 2026 Manufacturer Tiering rankings released by BloombergNEF (BNEF). The company maintained its Tier 1 status for photovoltaic modules and made its debut on the Tier 1 energy storage list. The dual listing reflects LONGi’s expansion into an integrated provider of photovoltaics and energy storage.
Bankability and independent manufacturing: BloombergNEF criteria for Tier 1 recognition
The BloombergNEF Tier 1 ranking serves as an important reference for investment, financing, and procurement decisions in global renewable energy projects. The assessment focuses on bankability, specifically whether a manufacturer’s products have been used in projects that successfully secured non-recourse debt financing from commercial banks.
BNEF also requires manufacturers to operate independent production facilities and sell products under their own brand names. For the energy storage sector, BloombergNEF evaluates stationary storage manufacturers based on real project deployment. To qualify, companies must have supplied batteries or energy storage systems for projects with a capacity of at least 10 MW or 10 MWh, whichever is higher, within the past two years.
LONGi launched energy storage solutions for commercial and industrial applications
In March 2026, LONGi introduced its commercial and industrial energy storage portfolio to the European market, beginning with launches in Poland and the Netherlands. LONGi presented its OmniCube and LONGi Flexi storage product families designed for commercial and industrial applications such as peak shaving, load shifting, and backup power. The systems incorporate the patented Intelligent Cell Connection System (iCCS), which enables precise cell-level monitoring while reducing internal wiring complexity by up to 80 percent. The technology forms part of a multi-layer safety architecture designed to detect irregularities early and prevent the propagation of thermal events.
This technology development is supported by LONGi’s strategic partnership with PotisEdge, an energy storage technology company specializing in system integration and battery safety technologies. The cooperation, established in November 2025, focuses on advancing integrated solar and storage solutions and strengthening safety architectures for battery energy storage systems.
The growing deployment of these solutions contributes to LONGi’s debut as a Tier 1 manufacturer in BloombergNEF’s Q1 2026 energy storage ranking.
