LONGi Solar in Germany has been nominated for the German Excellence Award 2026 by the German Institute for Service Quality in the category Environment and Energy for its high-performance 505-watt back contact module from the EcoLife series. The application, submitted in September 2025 under the title “More power, more safety. The module for an uncertain climate future”, focused on the module’s contribution to reliable residential solar generation under increasingly demanding environmental conditions.
The nominated module is LONGi’s flagship product for the residential market and is based on the company’s latest HIBC (Hybrid Interdigitated Back Contact) cell technology. By combining heterojunction cell architecture with a full back contact design, it reaches efficiencies of up to 25 percent and output levels above 500 watts per panel. At a power density of 247 W/m², the module delivers higher energy yields on limited roof areas and addresses common spatial and structural constraints in residential installations.
The nomination places the EcoLife series among a selected group of products evaluated for their contribution to energy performance, environmental responsibility and practical relevance for end users in the German market.
EcoLife responds to structural limits and climate resilience in residential solar
The nomination is based on the technical and practical characteristics of the EcoLife module, which was developed in response to two parallel challenges in the residential solar market. Many homeowners face limited roof space or structural constraints that restrict the amount of electricity a rooftop system can produce. At the same time, increasing weather extremes place higher demands on the durability and reliability of residential solar infrastructure.
With a strong emphasis on climate resilience and long-term operational stability, the module is designed and tested for high mechanical loads, including snow loads of up to 6,000 Pa and wind loads of up to 3,600 Pa, and has passed hail impact testing. Its back contact architecture contributes to lower operating temperatures and improved behavior under partial shading, reducing the risk of hotspots and performance losses during irregular weather conditions. Supported by a 30-year product and performance warranty, the EcoLife module is positioned as a long-term energy asset for homeowners.
EcoLife modules deliver 20% more energy than conventional modules
EcoLife is LONGi’s consumer-oriented product line, developed for residential applications where performance, safety, design and economic viability must align. Compared with conventional residential modules, each EcoLife module produces around 20 percent more energy per module, increasing electricity generation per square meter. This higher yield supports greater self-consumption, reduces reliance on grid electricity and improves the overall economic return of a rooftop system, supporting both energy independence and long-term investment confidence.
German Excellence Award presented by DUP and DISQ for the eighth time
The award is presented for the eighth time by DUP UNTERNEHMER-Magazin in cooperation with the German Institute for Service Quality. The patron of the award is Brigitte Zypries, former German Federal Minister. Nominations and submissions are evaluated by an independent jury composed of representatives from business, academia and the media. The award honors projects that demonstrate exceptional quality, while the editorial team of DUP UNTERNEHMER additionally recognizes selected initiatives as “Excellent Initiatives”.
Following the nomination and formal application process, the final award decision will be announced on January 26, 2026.
