nadinebuetow@longi.comIn August 2025, at the BC Eco-Innovation Summit in Jiaxing City, Zhejiang Province,China, LONGi and industry partners announced the establishment of the Global BC Ecosystem Collaborative Innovation Center. The initiative is designed to accelerate the industrialization of back contact (BC) technology.
During the summit, Laplace New Energy Technology Co., Ltd., Shaanxi Xingbei New Energy Technology Co., Ltd., and Jiangyin Haida New Energy Materials Co., Ltd. signed agreements to join LONGi's Pathfinder Alliance Program. As key members of theBC ecosystem, the three companies will collaborate with LONGi on joint R&D and production, working toward shared innovation objectives that deliver mutual benefits and collective success.
The launch of these projects marks a major expansion of the BC ecosystem and represents an important milestone in industrial innovation collaboration, with the aim of jointly building the BC ecosystem and advancing the future of PV technology.
At the event, Li Zhenguo, Founder and Chief Technology Officer of LONGi, emphasized the need for collaboration: “We must establish an open and inclusive BC innovation ecosystem driven by joint progress, accelerating technology integration and commercialization to unlock the full innovative potential of the ecosystem.”

Driving high-quality development in China’s PV sector
Following years of rapid expansion, China’s photovoltaic industry is entering anew phase of high-quality development - shifting from the singular pursuit of scale and cost reduction toward advancing technological innovation, reliability, and environmental value.
Back contact (BC) technology, with its higher conversion efficiency, superior low-light response, and aesthetic advantages, is emerging as a key enabler of this transformation. Yet BC also represents a complex, systematic engineeringchallenge. Its large-scale deployment requires collaboration across the entire value chain, strong ties between industry, academia, and research, and system-level innovation in efficiency, cost, and quality.
Building an open and collaborative BC ecosystem
As a global solar technology leader, LONGi was the first to launch the construction of a BC ecosystem - fostering an open, collaborative innovation environment to co-create solutions with partners.
- In 2023, LONGi officially initiated its BC ecosystem program.
- In July 2024, the company established its Global Distributed R&D Center in Jiaxing and unveiled the “Partners +LONGi” collaborative framework, strengthening the BC value chain.
- In June 2025, at SNEC, LONGi introduced the Pathfinder Alliance Program, laying a stronger foundation for collaborative innovation and shared success.
Building on these milestones, LONGi has created a comprehensive ecosystem system with dedicated organizations, end-to-end processes, lifecycle tracking, and benefit-sharing mechanisms. The model emphasizes independent innovation, synergistic collaboration, IP protection, and business safeguarding.
By May 2025, LONGi had conducted technical exchanges with 191 global partners, signed55 cooperation agreements with 44 partners, and completed 23 strategic technology deployments across seven key fields: wafers, cells, modules, system solutions, hydrogen, biomass, and engineering technology. At the Summit, partners such as Shenzhen Shijin Technology Co., Ltd., Baoshan Iron and Steel Company Limited, Shaanxi Xingbei New Energy Technology Co., Ltd., and Hangzhou Fumao New Materials Co., Ltd. presented cooperation case studies highlighting innovation in practice.
Looking ahead, LONGi will invest further resources to drive progress through the twin engines of collaborative innovation and ecosystem enhancement. This approach will allow partners to benefit not only from joint projects but also from value created through intellectual property protection, while delivering more advanced and reliable solutions to customers and setting a new industry model for ecosystem-driven innovation.
