Forbes has named Zhong Baoshen, Chairman and General Manager of LONGi Green Energy, to its Sustainability Leaders 2025 list, announced ahead of Climate Week NYC. Zhong is the only representative from China’s photovoltaic industry to be included, recognized for his role in advancing renewable energy and climate action.
The Forbes Sustainability Leaders list highlights 50 individuals from business, government, and academia who are shaping a more just and sustainable economy. Honorees are selected for their contributions to climate leadership, industrial transformation, and integration of environmental and social responsibility into core strategy.
Recognition of LONGi’s global impact
Under Zhong’s leadership, LONGi has built its strategy around the principle of “Economics of Goodwill,” aligning business value with social and environmental benefit. By the end of 2024, the company had shipped more than 500 GW of photovoltaic wafers, contributing to an estimated reduction of over 1.2 billion metric tons of global carbon dioxide emissions.
LONGi has also pursued international partnerships to extend the reach of renewable energy. At COP28 in Dubai, the company and the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) launched a three-year program to deliver clean power and education initiatives in refugee communities. Projects include a 700 kW solar plant in Uzbekistan and training programs for refugees and host communities, with further installations planned in hospitals serving displaced people in Pakistan.
Acknowledging climate leadership
Forbes noted that the 2025 honorees have “set new benchmarks for sustainable development with extraordinary vision and determination.” Zhong’s inclusion affirms both his individual leadership and LONGi’s role in driving cost reductions, technology innovation, and equitable access to solar power as part of the global energy transition.
