The Innoptus Solar Team has completed a 200 kilometer road test across Belgium using the solar race car Infinite Apollo. This vehicle is equipped with LONGi back contact technology and vehicle integrated photovoltaic solutions. The test took place on urban roads under real traffic conditions and varying solar irradiance to evaluate the performance of the technology in complex operational environments.

Belgian road test serves as final validation for vehicle systems before American Solar Challenge

In March 2026 LONGi announced it would provide back contact technology and flexible solar solutions for the American Solar Challenge. The 200 kilometer tour through Belgium served as a pre-race validation for the vehicle systems before the competition begins in July 2026. Prior to this test the Innoptus Solar Team developed the car over ten months and conducted several thousand kilometers of driving to evaluate the performance of the upgraded solar modules and battery systems.

Technical cooperation with Sibelco enables integration of LONGi back contact cells in solar racing

The project involves a technical cooperation where Sibelco supplies the high purity quartz sand used in the manufacturing of the solar cells. LONGi utilizes this material to produce the back contact cells and vehicle integrated photovoltaic systems integrated into the Infinite Apollo. During the Belgian tour the car maintained a stable energy output while navigating live traffic and changing light conditions across six different locations.

Solar Van demonstration highlights mobility applications in Germany and France

In another urban solar project, the LONGi Solar Van traveled from France through Frankfurt in Germany to its destination in Dessel. With this LONGi offered additional public demonstrations of clean energy technology in urban spaces. The performance of the solar race car and the technical displays in the van provided information on current solar applications within the mobility sector.
