Solar energy spreads most effectively when people see it in action. A joint study by Yale School of the Environment and the University of Connecticut found that when one home in a neighborhood installs solar, the likelihood of nearby homes following increases by up to 44%.
This is the idea behind LONGi’s new EcoLife Program. It invites homeowners, installers, and EPCs to share their solar stories and show what clean energy looks like in everyday life. If you’ve completed a project using EcoLife modules such as the Hi-MO X10 or Hi-MO S10, this is your chance to give it a voice and make a broader impact.

So, what role can you additionally play, whether you're a homeowner, a solar user, or even an installer or energy professional - beyond joining our program?
We are convinced that everyone can make a difference. When solar becomes visible, relatable, and personal, it becomes easier for others to take interest and take action. Here are a few simple and effective ways to help others get inspired and become a solar ambassador!
Homeowners and renters: show off your solar treasure!
You likely chose solar for some solid reasons, and chances are, you still check your app regularly to see how your system performed, how self-sufficient you were, and how much you saved. It’s easy to get excited about the results. Why not share that enthusiasm with the people around you? Every time you share your experience, you help someone else take a step toward clean energy. You could:
Show what solar looks like in real life
A visible system on your roof already makes an impact. You can go further by displaying your energy savings on a home dashboard, in your entryway, or online. A little nerdy, yes, but people will stop by, promise!
Host a neighborhood solar visit or throw a “solar-warming” party
Invite neighbors to visit your home and learn about your installation. Why not combine it with a solar house-warming party to celebrate the new installation? Share how you chose your system, what it cost, and what it has saved you. Not only will you provide valuable information, you may also build ties with people you might not have had closer conversations with in your street.
Share your story on social media
Post pictures, energy stats, or even a short video explaining your decision. Keep it simple and personal, real-life insights are powerful.
Start conversations with those nearby
When someone asks about your solar panels, whether it's a neighbor passing by or a colleague who's curious, that’s the perfect moment to start a conversation. People tend to trust real experiences more than ads or websites. Share what made you decide to go solar, what the process was like, and what you’ve learned since. If they’re interested, you can offer to connect them with your installer or help them get a quote. A simple, honest chat can go a long way in helping someone else take the first step.
Unlock the power of communities
If you're part of a local community, or actively involved in a neighborhood group, school, or association, your role as a solar ambassador can have an even greater impact. You might help organize a local info session or open-house visit to showcase your system. Schools, churches, or community centers often look for real-life examples when discussing sustainability. Your experience could be exactly what they need. Even helping others compare quotes or understand local subsidies can make a difference. Within a community, trusted voices go a long way in helping others feel confident about going solar.
Installers as solar ambassadors - every system you build helps others take the first step
As the ones who bring solar projects to life, installers and EPCs play one of the most important roles in the energy transition. You're responsible for the technical execution of each project. But your role goes further. Installers guide customers through their first experience with solar, answer key questions, offer recommendations, and build trust that makes adoption possible. That turns you a powerful ambassador for solar in every community you serve. So, apart from this business-related role, there is one key thing you can do as a solar ambassador:
Share your projects with larger audiences!
Here are a few ways to amplify your work and help more people and businesses see its impact.
Become the local face of solar
Attend events, set up information booths, or sponsor local initiatives to make your presence known in the community. This is the first step toward building trust and positioning yourself as the go-to expert for solar in your area. People are more likely to choose an installer they’ve seen, met, or heard good things about, especially when making a long-term investment like solar. Highlight recent local projects to demonstrate your experience and build credibility.
Use storytelling, not just specs
Share real customer experiences and let them tell their story. Why they chose solar, what challenges it helped solve at home or in their business, and how it changed the way they use energy. People connect more with personal stories than with technical details. That’s why it’s worth turning both yourself and your customer into storytellers. When promoting a project, include those personal elements. They are what make the case relatable and memorable.
Use a variety of marketing and comms channels, not just social
Social media is a great way to attract attention and share your story, but posts fade over time and often can’t be found in search results. Make sure you establish a lasting content hub on your business website, either as a blog, a digital magazine or a simple case overview.
In addition, unique stories, especially those with a strong local connection or community impact, are often of interest to regional newspapers and media outlets. If your project stands out due to its scale, innovation, or relevance to local sustainability goals, reach out to local editors or journalists. A well-told case can become a feature story that not only highlights your work but also raises awareness about solar energy in your region. Include clear facts, photos, and a personal angle to increase the chances of coverage.
Join forces with your partners
Collaborating with project partners can amplify your impact and visibility. Involve the businesses you worked with in your marketing work, such as the solar module manufacturer, inverter supplier, or technical partners involved in planning and execution. Co-promoting the project through shared channels, whether it’s a social media post, a press release, a blog post, or a case study, helps build trust and extends your reach. It also shows potential customers that your work is backed by strong, reliable partnerships.
