nadinebuetow@longi.comMadrid, December 2,2025 – LONGi, a global leader in solar technology, today announced the global field performance results of its Back Contact (BC) technology platform and Hi-MO 9 module. Following the technology's launch, LONGi initiated a systematic global field testing program across multiple key markets. In collaboration with global customers, authoritative third-party institutions, and its own testing bases, the company conducted long-term and precise comparative monitoring of power generation performance across diverse climates and typical application scenarios in China, Europe, the Middle East, Asia-Pacific, and Latin America.
This extensive testing network covers a range of typical and harsh environments—including temperate continental, tropical, arid regions, and high-humidity coastlines—to evaluate the Hi-MO 9 module’s performance under real-world operating conditions beyond standard laboratory settings. Global field data demonstrate that the Hi-MO 9 exhibits stability and consistency exceeding expectations in actual power generation performance, system economic benefits, and environment aladaptability.
Field Verification Confirms Superior Power Generation
Data reports from multiple internationally recognized technical service organizations consistently indicate that, compared with mainstream TOPCon modules currently on the market, LONGi's BC modules achieve stable growth in watt-for-watt power generation worldwide, with gain margins ranging between 1.21% and 3.92%, and particularly outstanding performance in certain scenarios.
European Field Data: Robust Returns in Temperate Climates
An assessment conducted by the renowned European technical service provider Enertis Applus+ for a 47 MW single-axis tracker PV project in Seville, Spain, showed that the Hi-MO 9 achieved 2,209 equivalent full-load hours in its first operational year, with watt-for-watt power generation 2.4% to 3.4% higher than TOPCon modules at the same site. Comprehensive calculations indicate that its Levelized Cost of Energy was reduced by 3.92% and 4.47%, respectively, compared with mainstream TOPCon-210R and TOPCon-210 models, delivering direct economic value to investors.
In Northern and Western Europe, evaluation projects led by the authoritative institute IPVF further validated the stability of Hi-MO 9's performance gains. Analysis of operational data from two 50 MW ground-mounted PV power plants in France and Denmark showed that the Hi-MO 9’s watt-for-watt power generation was on average 1.84% higher than that of TOPCon modules, while the LCOE was 3.32% and 2.43% lower than that of TOPCon-210R and TOPCon-210 models, respectively.
China Field Data: Multi-Scenario Adaptation and Leading Performance
Under China's diverse climatic and geographical conditions, the Hi-MO 9 also demonstrated excellent power generation performance. In the high-temperature, high-humidity environment of Sanya, Hainan, assessment by the China General Certification Center confirmed that the Hi-MO 9 achieved a 1.54% watt-for-watt power generation gain over TOPCon modules, with a backsheet operating temperature 1.21°C lower and a 0.19 percentage point advantage in power degradation rate over six months. At the Sanmen tidal flat test site in Zhejiang, its power generation gain reached 1.87%, with temperature and degradation rate advantages of 1.26°C and 0.38%, respectively. At an offshore high-humidity test base in Shandong, the CPVT National PV Product Quality Inspection Center verified the Hi-MO 9’s outstanding performance in high-temperature stability, low-light response, and long-term reliability.
Technical Core: Low Hot Spot Temperature for Enhanced Safety
The value of the HPBC2.0 technology integrated into the Hi-MO 9 lies not only in significant power generation gains but also in its revolutionary low hot spot performance. Field data show that under common partial shading conditions—such as those caused by vegetation, bird droppings, dust, or structural shadows—the Hi-MO 9 effectively suppresses the hot spot effect, with hot spot temperatures significantly lower than those of conventional modules. This technological breakthrough elevates PV plant safety to a new level. Lower hot spot temperatures fundamentally mitigate risks of material aging, power degradation, and even potential fire hazards caused by localized overheating, providing a solid guarantee for reliable plant operation over 25 years. Whether in residential rooftop scenarios with stringent safety standards, large-scale ground-mounted power plants with high maintenance demands, or even complex hybrid wind-solar applications, LONGi's BC technology has been verified as an ideal solution that simultaneously delivers high power generation returns and ultimate safety.
Reshaping PV Value Standards with Field Evidence
LONGi's global field testing program for the Hi-MO 9 represents not merely a presentation of power generation data, but a new paradigm for assessing technological value based on real-world, long-term, and systematic verification. The results fully demonstrate the Hi-MO 9’s comprehensive leading advantages in power generation gain, LCOE control, and environmental adaptability. This marks a significant milestone in the further large-scale application of BC technology and provides global PV customers with a clear, fact-based decision-making basis for evaluating diverse technology pathways.
