Czech Industrial Site Now Powers 40% of its Operations with Solar Energy

In Vyškov, near Brno in the Czech Republic,a key local industrial facility is embracing clean energy in a big way. The SMC factory, which manufactures components for pneumatic and electrical systems, has installed a 408.32 kWp solar power system across its 31,000 m² production site. This marks a significant step toward energy independence and sustainability.

The installation now covers 40% of the factory’s total energy demand, allowing the company to generate almost half of its electricity needs onsite, reduce reliance on the grid, and stabilize energy costs for the future.

Solar Modules Optimized for Czech Climatic Conditions

The system is powered by 928 LONGi Back Contact black frame modules, mounted using the novotegra system. This robust and efficient setup was carefully designed by a local installer in cooperation with LONGi’s certified partner, BayWa r.e. The investor chose the solution that ensures smooth operation in the years to come and delivers long-termperformance under the region’s varying weather conditions.

Czechia is characterized by moderate to heavy cloud cover, frequent overcast skies, and lower solar irradiance during winter months. These conditions can pose challenges for conventional solar modules, precisely where LONGi’s solutions shine.

With a busbar-free design, LONGi’s modules capture more light, resulting in 2.27% higher efficiency than conventional TOPCon solutions and up to 18% better output in low-light conditions, an ideal feature for the Czech climate, defined by variable sunlight and seasonal shifts, where solar systems must be engineered for consistent output throughout the year.

From Consultation to Completion: A Collaborative Effort from Top Local PV companies

The investor, SMC factory, was seeking the best fit for the specific requirements of the roof, as well as the best possible return on their investment. This project came to realization due to close collaboration between top local PV players, ensuring the investing company’s needs were fully met. The choice of components was crucial to the success of this solar power plant, with LONGi modules being matched with the novotegra construction system.
