Åhléns City, one of Stockholm’s most recognizable department stores, has installed a rooftop solar system that supplies the building with locally generated renewable electricity. Developed and built by Luminos Energi, the installation uses LONGi Hi-MO X10 high-efficiency back contact modules and is expected to generate around 375,000 kWh of clean electricity per year, roughly equivalent to the annual consumption of up to 95 Swedish households.

The project required more than a year of careful planning due to the building’s historic character and distinctive copper roof. High efficiency, reliability under Nordic light conditions, and robust module design were essential to deliver strong energy yields while respecting architectural constraints. The system increases on-site energy use, reduces CO₂ emissions, and supports both the long-term sustainability strategy and property value of Åhléns City, demonstrating how solar power can be successfully integrated into complex urban landmark buildings.
