In the historic city of Nijmegen, a quiet revolution is underway. Commercial and industrial (C&I) businesses are embracing solar energy, transforming their operations with sustainable power, one rooftop at a time.

At the heart of this movement is Duynie Ingredients, a leading supplier of sustainable pet food ingredients. Perched atop their industrial facility in Nijmegen, a 325kW solar installation stands as a testament to their commitment to sustainability. For a company where eco-conscious production is a core value, this solar system is more than just an energy source—it’s a statement of providing cleaner products for the community.

Meeting high energy demands with precision

Duynie Ingredients required a solar solution that could meet the substantial energy demands of their operations while maximizing efficiency. The 325kW system, tailored to their needs, delivers approximately 390,000 kWh annually, covering roughly 10% of the company’s energy consumption. This reliable, high-performance installation ensures that Duynie can maintain seamless operations while reducing reliance on traditional energy sources.

High-efficiency back contact modules help Duynie cut emissions and save €60,000 a year

To make the most of limited rooftop space, Duynie Ingredients turned to LONGi’s cutting-edge back-contact (BC) modules. Specifically, the installation features around 720 Hi-MO X10 72HVD panels, designed to maximize energy output in compact areas. These modules perform at 24.6% efficiency, ensuring every square meter of the roof contributes to the system’s impressive performance.

The benefits extend beyond energy generation. By adopting solar power, Duynie Ingredients has significantly reduced its carbon footprint, aligning with its sustainability goals. Additionally, the system delivers substantial cost savings, with an estimated €60,000 in annual energy expenses redirected back into the business for further growth and innovation.

Duynie Ingredients reflects a wider movement as Dutch C&I businesses turn rooftops into engines of sustainable growth

The success of Duynie Ingredients’ solar installation is a standout example of rapid adoption of clean energy by C&I businesses in the Netherlands. In 2024, commercial premises accounted for about 70 % of all new solar capacity added in the Netherlands, while residential made up the remaining 30 %. Overall, almost 60 % of the country’s total installed solar capacity by year-end was on commercial sites.

Duynie decided to combine cutting-edge solar technology with a strong commitment to sustainability, paving the way for a greener and more cost-effective future. With LONGi’s Hi-MO X10 back contact series delivering high efficiency and proven reliability, the installation not only strengthens environmental performance but also ensures long-term profitability for the business.
