LONGi Reports Strong 2024 Results and Accelerates BC Technology Rollout

Frankfurt am Main, 22.05.2025 – LONGi has published its 2024 annual report, posting revenue of CNY 82.582 billion and CNY 13.652 billion in Q1 2025. The company is rapidly upgrading its HPBC 1.0 lines to the high-efficiency N-type HPBC 2.0 technology (HPBC = Hybrid Passivated Back Contact). Production lines have now achieved a 97% yield rate, supporting plans for large-scale adoption of Back Contact (BC) technology. With capacity expansion and rising demand, LONGi is positioning BC at the heart of its innovation roadmap.

Back contact gains momentum as global deployment rises

LONGi invested CNY 5.014 billion in R&D in 2024 which is 6% of total revenue. The company now holds more than 3,300 patents, including 400+ in BC tech. Shipments of BC modules surpassed 17GW last year, with HPBC 2.0 products now rolling out across global markets including Europe, MEA, and Latin America. BC capacity is set to reach 50GW by the end of 2025. Competitors including Trina, GCL, and JA have joined the BC wave, confirming its growing industry footprint.

Pushing the limits: Efficiency set to top 26%

LONGi’s HPBC 2.0 modules already lead in efficiency, reaching 24.8% in mass production. The company projects BC cell efficiency of 28.5% and module efficiency above 26% in the next few years. In Q1 2025 alone, LONGi shipped 16.93GW of modules (including 4.32GW BC) and 23.46GW of wafers. Despite current market headwinds, LONGi is focused on lean operations, inventory control, and further R&D gains, driving toward a more mature, scalable BC ecosystem.
